Bria Taylor - Killa Cakes
How/what did you start your business?
I started Killa Cakes out of a need to do design and creative work away from the computer.
Also to branch out and do my own thing. I need that creative freedom.
What inspires you?
Art, Design, Architecture, Fashion, Photography, everything.
What motivates you?
The freedom. I was never someone to be told what to do or how I should live my life. So I really enjoy being able to do whatever I want in life and art and design. I think it's what makes my designs so unique.
What are you most proud of?
I think I am most proud how far I've come in three years. Also, being able to keep up with the pandemic. I am extremely blessed that I was able to adapt so easily to the changes from the pandemic and keep business going.
Tell us something that folks wouldn't know about you?
I am actually not a huge fan of cake. I never eat my own cakes, but my atomic brownies I could eat by the handful.
Tell us about a time you overcame a challenge?
The biggest challenge I overcame was cancer when I was 19. It was by far the hardest thing I've had to do, but I learned so much about myself in the process.
How do you overcome adversity?
The biggest thing I can do is be adaptable and ready for anything.
What advice would you give someone who wants to start their own business?
Just do it! Life is too short to question every little thing, if you want to start a business just do it
